While it may not be a necessity, it's great to have a quick backup battery to pop in the Peax headlamp. This gives double the run time without worrying about recharging the battery in the field.

The headlamp is very well designed and easy to operate I bought the extra battery as well just for insurance it’s not uncommon for me to stay in a spike camp for a couple nights one to operate and the other to charge while out of camp

Got a bad battery with the new headlamp I ordered. Once the problem was figured out a new battery was sent right away. Fixed the issue and the headlamp works perfectly. Thanks!

Great backup battery to the original one that came with my headlamp! Having a backup battery on the mountain has definitely been a game changer!
